About Australian Home Collective
Australian Home Collective was created to make online shopping a little clearer for Australian households.
I’m Shane Tottenham, founder and curator of the site. I started Australian Home Collective because I know how confusing product claims can be when you are trying to buy something practical for the home.
Australian made. Australian owned. Australian designed. Ships from Australia. Locally dispatched. Sustainable. Premium. Natural. Eco-friendly.
Those words can be useful, but they do not all mean the same thing.
This site exists to help separate those claims, add context, and make it easier to compare products before clicking through to a brand, retailer or source website.
Why I created the site
Shopping online should not feel like guesswork.
A product might be sold by an Australian business but made overseas. It might be designed here but manufactured elsewhere. It might ship from an Australian warehouse without being Australian made. It might also be genuinely made in Australia, or carry official Australian Made certification, but that should be clear.
Australian Home Collective is built around that difference.
The goal is not to tell people what they must buy. It is to help shoppers understand what they are looking at, so they can make a more informed choice.
What the site covers
Australian Home Collective focuses on practical products for Australian homes, including home, lifestyle, pet, nursery, laundry, kitchen and outdoor products.
When looking at a product or brand, I try to include the details that matter in real life, such as:
materials
sizing
care instructions
delivery notes
warranty information
product origin
brand background
Australian ownership
Australian design claims
whether the product ships from Australia
whether the product appears to be Australian made
whether official Australian Made certification is clearly shown
I do not assume every product from an Australian brand is made in Australia. I also do not treat “Australian Made” as official Australian Made certification unless that certification is clearly shown or verified.
A guide, not a marketplace
Australian Home Collective is an independent editorial guide, not a marketplace.
Purchases are completed directly through the relevant brand, retailer or source website. Australian Home Collective does not process payments, manage shipping, handle returns, provide refunds, honour warranties or offer product support.
Some links on the site may be affiliate or partner links. This means Australian Home Collective may earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase, at no extra cost to you.
That commission helps support the site, but the aim is to keep the information useful, practical and clear.
How I approach product information
I try to be careful with the way products are described.
If a product is Australian owned, that does not automatically mean it is Australian made. If it ships from Australia, that does not automatically mean it was manufactured here. If a brand makes environmental or sustainability claims, I look for the explanation behind those claims rather than treating them as automatic proof.
Product information can also change. Prices, availability, delivery terms, materials, origin claims and certification status may be updated by brands or retailers after a product is listed.
For that reason, readers should always check the current product page, packaging or manufacturer information before relying on a claim.
A note from Shane
I believe a lot of Australian shoppers want to make better choices.
Some want to support Australian businesses. Some want products that are better made. Some want to know where something comes from. Some just want to avoid wasting money on products that are poorly described.
Australian Home Collective is my concerted effort to make that process less frustrating.
It is not about making every product sound perfect. It is about giving shoppers a clearer starting point.
Corrections and updates
If something on the site looks wrong, out of date or unclear, please contact me so I can review it.
That includes product details, ownership notes, origin claims, certification status, pricing, availability or broken links.
I aim to correct or clarify information where needed.
